Vontas OnRoute: Smarter Tools. Smoother Service. Stronger Connections.

Transit agencies are under constant pressure to provide reliable service, keep riders informed, and respond quickly to changing conditions. That’s why the latest enhancements to Vontas OnRoute are focused on helping agencies operate more efficiently while delivering a better experience for passengers and operators alike.

OnRoute introduces a range of intelligent, rider-focused capabilities designed to improve communication, streamline workflows, and make service management easier than ever.

A Modernized User Experience

The first thing users will notice is a refreshed interface built for speed and usability. Updated menus, streamlined dialogs, improved map-hover displays, and an optional dark mode create a cleaner, more intuitive experience for dispatchers and operations staff. These enhancements reduce clicks, simplify navigation, and help teams work more efficiently throughout the day.

Clearer Communication Between Dispatch and Operators

When situations change in the field, clear communication is critical. With new multimedia messaging capabilities, dispatchers can now send photos and images directly to vehicles, providing operators with visual information that helps them better understand incidents, detours, or service changes.

Enhanced headsign management also allows agencies to remotely update vehicle headsigns and push dynamic public messages during detours, special events, or service disruptions, ensuring riders receive accurate information when they need it most.

Smarter Tools for Managing Service Disruptions

Unexpected events are part of transit operations, but responding to them doesn’t have to be complicated. New disruption management enhancements provide faster, more efficient tools for creating service notices and managing incidents.

The new IDS Administration Wizard simplifies incident queue configuration with a guided setup experience, making it easier to plan, test, and deploy operational rules with confidence.

Operators also benefit from new detour logon alerts, which automatically notify them when a detour impacts their first assigned trip, helping them start their shift informed and prepared.

Improving Accessibility and Rider Information

Keeping all riders informed is a key part of delivering excellent service. Agencies can now create ADA-friendly Text-to-Speech detour announcements, ensuring important service updates are accessible to a wider audience.

These enhancements help transit agencies communicate changes more effectively while supporting accessibility goals and improving the overall rider experience.

Faster Service Adjustment Management

Whether responding to planned events, service disruptions, or increased demand, agencies need tools that allow them to adapt quickly.

The new Fixed Route Shuttle Wizard simplifies the creation and management of shuttle services, enabling agencies to configure temporary routes in less time.

In addition, expanded GTFS-RT support now includes trip modifications, shuttle services, and overload operations. These enhancements provide riders and third-party applications with more accurate real-time information about service changes, additional capacity, and operational adjustments.

Designed for Today’s Transit Challenges

Every enhancement in our new release is designed with a single goal in mind: helping agencies provide more reliable service while reducing operational complexity.

From modernized workflows and improved dispatch communications to better accessibility and real-time rider information, the latest Vontas OnRoute enhancements give transit agencies the tools they need to operate with greater confidence and keep riders informed every step of the way.
